Ahora de los Tigreiros

Two friends playing with Barbie dolls discover darker, surreal territory as jealousy, attraction and generational trauma emerge, complicating their fun.

This was the first short film I scored at Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema. I used ROM synth instruments to invoke the surreal Barbie Dream House commercials from the early 2000’s. This film has a strong tone shift, so I contrasted the plasticky, bright synth sounds with a dark, pulsing groove, using foley Barbie sounds (clacking, squeaking, thudding) as the basis for a percussion loop.
