Don't Tell
In Don’t Tell, a short film by Alex Alston, two sisters prepare dinner while disputing the best way to reveal a dreadful family secret to their mother.
The score for the film was heavily influenced by Nicholas Britell’s work in Succession. Director Alex Alston wanted a similar chamber strings vibe with family tension boiling at the center.
I co-composed the music with fellow Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema student Matthew Greene. We started by creating themes for the two sisters and then fused our ideas together, creating a unique blended vibe for the film. I went on to record Nick Coratti on cello, providing the rhythmic beating heart and propelling the tension forward.
It was a lot of fun to work with a collaborator on a score, and I hope to get the chance to do so again.
